Pinewood Derby

Important Dates for 2024:

Getting Ready

Our Pinewood Derby race has divisions for other youth organizations, scouts, siblings, and adults. Scouts compete by den with the top racers advancing to the pack finals. Scouts are also eligible for prizes like best paint job, most original, and best design.

Cars will be passed out at the January Pack Meeting, or you can get one at the Pinewood Derby prep workshop. If you can't make the workshop and need a car, let one of the leaders know.  Cars are free for Scouts. Siblings, parents, and Girl Scouts can buy cars at the workshop or the Scout Shop for $7 each.

We will have cutting, drilling, and sanding stations at the workshop. Dens will be scheduled to arrive at specific times between 1 and 4. You can paint, stain, or decorate your car at home. Make sure your car is dry before race day.

Please contact the Pack Committee if you can help out at the workshop. We need machine operators and set up and clean up help.

Race Day

Car check in will be prior to the 3:30 start time. The cars will be weighed and checked for size then. There will be tools available if you need to modify your car.

Racing will include heats by Den, open classes, and a grand final for the Cub Scouts. Click here for details.

Additional awards will be handed to out to scouts based on car esthetics:

We will also have pizza and cake at the end of the day for all attendees.

Please contact the Pack Committee if you can help out . We need several volunteers on race day to make sure everything goes smoothly.
